Covington's 31st Heritage Festival wrapped up on September 26 with more than 100 vendors on Court Square. That was the county's one big shared weekend. For the rest of October, a different town hosts each Saturday. Atoka goes first on October 10, then Munford on the 17th and Brighton on the 24th, and Covington closes the month on Halloween afternoon.
Taken one at a time, these look like four separate small-town events. Taken together, they make a calendar that moves around the county one week at a time. Each town builds its day from the same basic pieces, usually food trucks, vendors and often a car show, and each sets them up in its own place. A park in Atoka. Three downtown streets in Munford. City Park in Brighton. The square in Covington. Where each event happens and when it runs tell you more than the activity lists do.

October 10: Atoka starts the run at a park
The Town of Atoka's 2026 events calendar lists Autumn in Atoka as a Fall Food Truck Festival from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on October 10. The day includes Howard's Tinting Car Show, food trucks, merchandise vendors and live music. A current event listing attributed to the town puts it at Nancy Lane Park on Atoka Park Avenue.
The morning starts earlier and somewhere else. Sparky's Fire Safety Family Day runs from 9 to 11 a.m. at Fire Station 1, which is at Town Hall, 108 Atoka McLaughlin Drive. It ends at 11, the same hour the food trucks open. That makes it easy to do both in one trip, with the fire station first and the park second.
You may have seen that a Kids Markets side event planned for Autumn in Atoka has been canceled. That was a separate market for young vendors. The town's own calendar still lists the main festival.
October 17: Munford moves the format onto its downtown streets
One week later, the festival moves from a park to the streets. Celebrate Munford, Inc. has set the 2026 Celebrate Munford for October 17. Booths will line Munford Avenue, Tipton Street and College Street downtown.
What's confirmed comes from the city's 2026 booth rental application, and it covers the vendor side more than the visitor side:
- Booth types: Craft, food, business and information, and nonprofit vendors.
- Setup times: Food trucks can start loading in at 5:30 a.m. and other booths at 6 a.m.
- Public hours: Not published in any 2026 material reviewed for this post.
The early load-in times matter if you live near downtown Munford. Trucks and tents will be arriving on those three streets before sunrise. Last year's festival had a 5K and a car show, but neither has been confirmed for 2026. Check the city's Celebrate Munford page closer to the date before you plan around either one.
October 24: Brighton has the longest posted hours
Brighton Park & Recreation lists the town's Fall Festival for Saturday, October 24, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Brighton City Park, 60 School Street. The town calendar shows the same 10 a.m. start. The festival flyer lists vendors, a car show, food trucks and a pie contest.
Put Brighton next to Atoka and the shared format is easy to see. Both have food trucks, vendors and a car show. Brighton adds the pie contest, which no other October event on this list includes. It also opens an hour earlier, so a family can arrive in the morning, which isn't possible at Atoka's 11 a.m. start.
The next day, Sunday, October 25, Hatchie Church of Christ holds its Fall Festival at 12:30 p.m. at 1372 Highway 51 North in Covington. It includes trunk-or-treating, costume contests, food and games. If you have kids, that makes the last full weekend of the month two days of events in two towns.
October 31: Covington takes the last Saturday back for two hours
Halloween is a Saturday this year, and the month ends where the season started. The Covington-Tipton County Chamber of Commerce lists Scare on the Square for October 31 from 2 to 4 p.m. on Covington Square. It's built around children's trick-or-treating and Halloween activities.
The difference in size from late September is large. The Heritage Festival filled Court Square with vendors from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on its main day. Scare on the Square runs two hours. Brighton has its own event that evening. The town calendar lists Trick or Treat with Police at 6 p.m. on October 31 but doesn't give a location. Covington's square event ends at 4 and Brighton's starts at 6, so the two don't overlap.
The weekday option at Drummonds
The four Saturdays account for October's weekends. The Storybook Trail at Drummonds Park Arboretum fills the days between them, and it has changed since it opened. The Tipton County Master Gardeners and Tipton County built it. It opened on April 10, 2026, as a paved, mostly downhill route with book panels set at a child's height. The plan was to change the book each season.
The first change has now happened. The Master Gardeners say their new trail story, As An Oak Tree Grows, went up on September 22. They describe the book this way:
"This book relays the events of two hundred years from the unique perspective of a magnificent oak tree, showing how much the world can transform from a single vantage point."
An arboretum is a good place for that book. Tipton County describes Drummonds Park Arboretum as a joint project of the Master Gardeners, Boy Scout Troop 260, the Tennessee Urban Forestry Council and the county. If your family walked the trail in the spring, the panels now tell a different story. You can visit on any weekday, with no crowds and no posted hours to plan around.
What's on the calendar after October
In early November, Golden Circle Chevrolet hosts its 4th Annual Flag Retirement Ceremony at 6 p.m. on November 7 at 3299 U.S. 51 South in Covington, and the VFW will serve food starting at 5 p.m. as a fundraiser for the Scouts. The holiday schedule is less clear so far. Atoka's special-events page shows a general Christmas Events heading but doesn't list a parade or tree-lighting date. The most recent parade and tree-lighting listing on Munford's site is from 2025. Check town websites and the Chamber calendar for holiday dates as December gets closer.
For now, the plan for October is set. Atoka at Nancy Lane Park on the 10th. Downtown Munford on the 17th. Brighton City Park on the 24th. Covington Square from 2 to 4 p.m. on the 31st. The new oak tree story at Drummonds is there on any weekday. You can find more about the county on our Tipton County neighborhood page.
